J.B. Priestley is the author of "An Inspector Calls" which he wrote in 1945. He was a writer from 1930-1984. He knew from a young age that he wanted to be a writer but he worked at a wool factory when he was 16. During WW1, he was a soldier and in WW2 he broadcasted a weekly radio programme. Although it was popular at the time, it was shut down because the conservatives  found it to be too far left wing.
